Go get NetToolset and you will have access to seven handy tools. These seven handy tools are: Ping, Traceroute, DNS Lookup, Reverse DNS, IP Whois, Domain Whois, and Port Scan. If you want to get more, you’re invited to go get the full-featured networking monitoring system ServersMaster. You see, NetToolset is a component of ServersMaster – a free component that is limited to the tools I already mentioned.

To get started with NetToolset you will first have to download an MSI installer on your machine. Run the installer and you will be presented with a setup wizard that will guide you through the installation process. It must be mentioned that the wizard will ask you to choose between a Typical Installation (the most common program features will be installed), a Custom Installation (you get to pick and choose), and a Complete Installation (all program features will be installed). No matter which one you choose, you will be done in no time.

You will not have to go through a steep learning curve to get accustomed to NetToolset’s interface. Nice big tabs for all the seven tools included in the application are presented at the top. Just click the one you want and start using it. The simplicity of the interface is definitely a plus.

Here’s a closer look at the tools NetToolset has to offer:
Ping – ping one or multiple hosts and see the response times.
Traceroute – perform ping-like operations, use the statistics you get, and fix network problems.
DNS Lookup – enter the host name and you’ll be provided with more info about it.
Reverse DNS – enter an IP address and you will be provided with more info about it.
IP Whois and Domain Whois – Whois information on the IP or domain you enter.
Port Scan – find open ports.

NetToolset is a free application. Cons:
None that I could think of.

Pros

Installing NetToolset is an effortless process. You will spend little time on figuring out the interface. NetToolset provides access to seven network administration tools: Ping, Traceroute, DNS Lookup, Reverse DNS, IP Whois, Domain Whois, and Port Scan. NetToolset is free.

Cons

ider getting ServersMaster if you want something that has a lot more functionality to offer. Thanks to NetToolset you get free access to a nice collection of handy network administration tools.
